Happy Birthday Jesus

We had our 4th annual Happy Birthday Jesus Party at the Matthew's new home. The first 2 years we had a play date party during the day, but the last few years we have made it a family event. I love when our entire families do things together. We brought our 6 pack to the party and they were pretty well behaved for the most part. Thank goodness for friends who like to hold babies :) The big kiddos ate chili, taco soup, and cornbread in the garage. What a great idea! I am seriously considering turning one of our attached garages into a padded room playroom. Our kiddos play so well together. I feel blessed that my friends and my children's friends are apart of the same family.

Angela made stables and provided stickers for the kiddos. She read the story of baby jesus' birth while the kids put stickers in the stable as each character was mentioned. The kids enjoyed making their manger scene. Harper was cracking me up because he said it wasn't a manger it was a "food trough!" So true, I guess he learned the specifics at school!

Later on in the week Angela took Harper, Gentry, and Jake to deliver fruit baskets to some shut-ins from our church. The kids sang "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" and delivered fruit and sweet smiles to some elderly folks. Now,  that is what Christmas is truly about.

Heathcott Christmas

We gathered in West University for a BIG Heathcott family Christmas. It was great to see some of Cam's extended family. We usually see the whole gang once a year, twice if we are lucky. So what a fun time. I think there were 44 people total. Wowzers!
Love this tree, ours will look like this in 50+ years!

Christmas 2011

I am finally going to try to recap Christmas, starting with Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve my parents came over and we spend the days playing and preparing for Christmas. As a child I loved Christmas Eve, as an adult it makes me tired thinking about it! I really tried to even pick our most favorite/meaningful traditions, but still our day was busy! I was supposed to babysit some of our friends with newborn twins so that they could attend church, but I had a scratchy throat and did not want to risk infecting anyone...come to find out later.... I had strep.

Cam and Harper lined up the Little People Nativity and had target practice with Harper's favorite Christmas present.

Addy and Harper had an intense game of Christmas memory. She always lets Harper win :)
And it wouldn't be Christmas Eve with out making a Gingerbread house!

Look at Daddy, GB house building is serious business

Huddy and Mama headed to church
Addy and Poppy stayed and watched Hampton and Hogan while we went to church. It is just such an ordeal to get everyone out of the house. We enjoyed a very special Christmas Eve Service with Harper and Hudson. I love having babies at Christmas time, I think I had tears in my eyes during the entire service.

My boys, Hogan was already asleep
When we got home it was time to make cookies for Santa. I took the easy way out this year and we used slice and bake cookies. Santa didn't mind :) Harper really likes helping and insisted that Addy and Poppy participate and wear aprons!
