BU Homecoming

Every year we look forward to Baylor Homecoming. I did not attend BU, but I love going back to Waco. There is just something special about a college town. Cam and I lived in Waco our first year of marriage, so that is probably another reason it is fun to visit.

We decided to make a long weekend out homecoming because any one with multiple kids knows that you pack the same about of stuff if you go out of town for one night or four! We arrived Friday early afternoon and went to Cameron Park Zoo. It was the perfect sized park for our 6-pack. The boys loved seeing the animals and it wasn't too much walking for Harper...not to mention we had the entire place to ourselves!! There was a toddler friendly playground in the middle of the zoo, which made it fun for everyone to stretch their legs.

After a fun afternoon at the zoo, we checked into our hotel. We loaded ALL of our gear, children,  and 3 pack n plays (just to give you a mental picture) up to our room and began to get settled. Traveling with kids is hard, but traveling with 4 kids is not for the weak. I am very thankful Cam even wanted to attempt this trip because I think I was ready to drive home after the bonfire. We headed over to campus to eat dinner in the Student Union. We were craving Ninfa's but were not feeling that brave. Lucky for us there was a CFA, but the triplets were not in the mood. What kids don't like CFA?! I tried to keep the crying to a minimum because there might be some college student at Baylor that wants to have kids someday....but what can I say my kids were in rare form. It is times like these that I wish we had a reality show, because I think we could be pretty entertaining! I was passing out all my snacks to keep everyone under wraps, but it was crazy I tell ya. Hudson squeezed a baby food pouch all over himself so he was forced to go shirtless. I had no extra clothes, it was 5pm and the bonfire didn't start until 9:30. We were those people :) We tried to take them outside to run around, but they were just plain tired. I am not sure why we thought it would be okay to stay, but we did. The bonfire was underwhelming and we spent most of our time trading off kids, but we did it and we won't be doing it again :)

After a good nights sleep we went to the homecoming parade. Harper reunited with his buddy Braden and consumed large amounts of candy. Cam and I enjoyed catching up with our friends Jared and Jamie. Jared and Cam were KOT's together and roommates. They have twin boys, Gage and Graham and they are too cute. For the most part the boys enjoyed the parade. I think we are just one year away from them loving it! The KOT float won, but it broke down in the middle of the parade! We had a 45 minute intermission so the boys played football. It was so cute, love being a boy mom. After the parade we passed the torch to Bearpa and Cha Cha who graciously offered to keep the trio while we went to the game.

We went and got Bush's Chicken to-go and made our own tailgate at the stadium. We walked around and saw old friends before the game started. It was SO hot at humid for a November Day. I was the only one who didn't bring short sleeves. Oops! We were able to sit in club level seats, which if you know Harper, was such a treat!! That boys loves to eat. He is my little hungry caterpillar who ate during the entire game!! Baylor pulled out a win so it was a great day!

Halloween

We had so much fun on Halloween this year. Addy found Thing 1, 2, and 3 shirts in Florida this summer so we decided to make it a family affair. Harper was not thrilled about being the Cat and the Hat, but after a few episodes of the cartoon he was excited. His girl buddy, Lauren, was a cat so I think that also helped him get excited.

We had our traditional Taco Soup before heading out to Trick or Treat. Addy and Poppy, along with Julie and Blake were our company. Harper was so excited to go door to door with Blake. This was the first year that Blake "got it" and it was so cute to watch him trick or treat.  Halloween was made for my kiddo, he LOVES candy...just like his mama!! I am shocked that he did not get sick.  I found a lot of empty wrappers in his buckets when we got home! Thing 1, 2, and 3 were content to be out of the house. They cheerfully rode around in the strollers and enjoyed people watching. I must say they were "The Cutest Things" that I have ever seen, blue hair and all!!

A trip down memory lane

I took a little trip down memory lane last weekend. I had the opportunity to go visit my dear, sweet, sweet friend, Abby, in Stillwater. I attended Oklahoma State University for my first two years of college. To say I loved my time there would be an understatement. God had other plans for me so after two years in Oklahoma, I finished my last two years of college at Texas A&M. I had not gone back to visit in eight years!! I had been to Oklahoma, but I had not made it back to Stillwater. Oh my goodness,  things had changed, but yet things seemed the same.  The memories came flooding back, so many great times. Unfortunately, my dorm had been torn down but a lot of things were just the same.

Abby picked me up at the airport and we headed to Oklahoma City to eat at Upper Crust and do a little shopping. We picked up right where we left off and I don't think we stopped talking for the next 4 days! I love that we live 500 miles apart, yet it feels like we live right next door... I wish! After walking around the new Classen Curve area we drove to Stillwater to meet Abby's boys Bo and Will. They were SO adorable! I only wish my littles could have played with her boys. Maybe next time.
Reunited!!

Next stop, a drive through campus. Abby and I laughed because I was taking pictures of everything like a typical tourist. I just don't know when I will get to visit again. The Pi Phi house looked the same, minus a tree or two. I lived here my sophomore year when I was assistant pledge trainer. Campus looked beautiful, just like I remembered.

Before heading to girl's night we stopped by a new restaurant on the strip, called Fuzzy Tacos. It was delish!! It's a good thing it wasn't there when I was in college.

We spent the rest of the night huddled around an outdoor fireplace laughing about fun times in college and our first impressions of each other. Sally gave everyone manicures while we made s'mores.

A very cheesy sorority picture, but I couldn't resist!

The new stadium

Another picture that I couldn't resist taking!
Abby's husband, Matt, got us awesome seats for the game. We had "Club" seats which meant we got free food and a tour of the new suites. The new stadium was very impressive. It looked like a high school stadium when I last visited, but not anymore! It was a chilly game so I got to wear a coat, scarf, and wool pants! I probably have not needed that combination in 8 years. After a big win over TCU, we headed back to Abby's house for chili. We finished the night watching OU lose!

My dad texted me this picture during the game:)

We ran into Libby!
Sunday afternoon we drove back to the city to do a little shopping and meet up with Ashley, my Big. She has 8 week old identical twin boys and a 3 year old boy. What did they feed us at the Pi Phi house....9 BOYS between the 3 of us?! Unfortunately, her oldest was sick so we decided not go to her house and meet the babies. It was so great to catch up at Panera and swap moms of multiples stories.

Wow! What a refreshing weekend. I loved going back to my "roots" and remembering my first two years of college. Thanks to Cam for making it happen, it was such a treat to go back. Hopefully it will not be another 8 years until I get to go back.
