Firsts

This week I have hit an all time low in the pregnancy along with a few "Firsts." For starters, I did what I never thought I would do.....ride the scooter at Wal-Mart. Yes, I was that girl with my husband following closely and video taping the whole experience unannounced to me. My sweet, darling, and thoughtful husband put it on Facebook for all to see...n-i-c-e. I would never ride on the scooter by myself, those things are seriously dangerous. I had to back up SO many times because I was either about to plow over an elderly person or knock everything off the end caps...and as if I wasn't already drawing enough attention it beeps when you back up!
You get the picture, stolen from Cam's fb page
Next, I have been doing a lot of laying around watching daytime television. If you know me, you know I am high strung and rarely sit down. Laying around all day is so hard for me, especially when there is nothing on TV. I have resorted to watching "Half-Ton Teen," don't judge, it boosts my self confidence, at least I can get out of bed every day!

Harper has been having lots of play dates with friends. On Wednesday, he spent the night with my in-laws, worked around the house with the painters and Daddy, went to the park and got ice cream with Major, went to choir at church, then spend the night again with my in-laws. He had a very busy day! So this = no nap. My mother in law took him to get a haircut before church and he fell asleep in the chair!!

I have totally given in to Harper lately, I definitely believe you have to "Pick your battles." So there are a few things that have been compromised this pregnancy....such as chewing gum. The rule has always been you can chew gum when you are 5, but that is out the window thanks to a 2 hour doctor's appointment over Spring Break. I have never given him soda, but apparently he loves Sprite after a few play dates with friends. He now asks for a sip every time I have a drink in my hand. He is also obsessed with our ipad, and  has learned how to pick movies on Netflix!! There are mornings when I just don't feel like doing anything. Recently I let him watch a movie after watching a hour of his morning shows. Hopefully he won't remember all this TV time when I get my energy back in a few years.

Lastly, I stopped at Sonic today for Happy Hour and the Car Hop rubbed my belly. Really? I think it is time to have these babies.

32 weeks 3 days

Well I have made it past the average for triplets (32.1) but I am not ready to meet our sweet trio just yet. I have a c-section scheduled for April 14th at 10am....feeling determined to keep them inside until 35 weeks. We have been really busy preparing for the boys, ie deep cleaning, re-arranging the garage, washing baby clothes, making labels/stationary and loving on my very active 3 year old. I am a busy body by nature, I come by it honestly, my mom is the exact same way. I have just hit an all time high for nesting x3!! A combination of the things above probably led to today....

We had a little scare...I have had a great triplet pregnancy. I have not had so much as a hiccup this far along, and feel that this is nothing short of miraculous. I have started having problems sleeping, every time I toss and turn it feels like I am ripping my uterus apart. It has started to get very uncomfortable. Well I woke up this morning and decided that it was best to have "Bedside Baptist Church." I sent the boys on their way and decided I would feel better if I showered. That is when I started spotting. I have never had any complications so this really worried me. I texted my doctor and she told me she was already at Labor and Delivery. She said it was probably nothing, but I should come and get checked out. I called Cam and told him he better turn around and come home. When he got home I was ready to go, wet hair and all. (This is not the glamorous delivery day I was hoping for)

We checked in at the hospital and the same nurse that delivered Harper was assigned to us. She lives in our town and it was really comforting to to have her by my side. She assured me that everything was fine and that if today was the day, the boys would be just fine. I was just not convinced. After an hour of monitoring the triplet's heart rates and my contractions my doctor came to check on us. She was really encouraging and said my cervix was closed and that this was probably a result of a strong kick. Apparently your cervix is really vascular and a blood vessel can pop easily. Whew. I was relieved that we could go home today.

This was a wake up call for Cam and I. We need a PLAN for when the day does come. So tonight I will be packing my hospital bag along with making lots of lists.

My prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to run with perseverance. When I get tired, encourage me. When I want to quit, carry me to the finish line. (April 14th!) Thank you for being so faithful to me.

Garage

Well we attempted to re-arrange the garage this morning all day. We had high hopes of parking both of our cars in the garage. We have a 2 car plus a single garage and still we could not make it happen. Cam said today was like playing Tetris, Level 23!! At one point we were both exhausted and had no idea what to do next. Cam completely emptied the 2 car garage so that his car would fit beside mine. Well the plan failed. He couldn't even clear the motion detectors! He was slightly annoyed! We debated selling Cam's truck and trading it in for a Mini Cooper, just to get his car to fit! Somehow I couldn't get him to go for it.

We were back at square one. Cam worked so hard while I shouted orders from the rocker. I guess this is his way of nesting. The garage is officially ready for you Hampton, Hogan, and Hudson......and the truck is going to reside in the driveway. We figured we would soon have 4 of everything.... 4 bikes, 4 cozy couples four eight strollers etc. We might be parking both of our cars outside!

Cupcake Crawl

Spring Break is over, Harper headed back to preschool today. He only goes 2 days a week, but I think we both knew it was time to get back on a routine. So after 9 days of solitary confinement Spring Break I needed a girls night out! My friend Jenna and her husband did a cupcake crawl with their kids in Houston a while back. I thought that was the BEST idea! If you know me, you know I have the biggest sweet tooth. So I planned at fun night with some friends.

A Cupcake Crawl is similar to bar crawls that college students do wherein their goal is to visit as many bars as possible in one night. Well our goal was much SWEETER! I found 3 cupcakeries  in The Woodlands to sample. First stop was Frost Bake Shoppe

Chocolate Peanut Butter-Delish!

Carrot Cake-not my favorite, but these would be cute to order for Easter
Frost had the best ambiance and customer service. The owner came out and took our picture and gave us complimentary bottles of water. I would definitely go back there for a special treat with Harper. It was very kids friendly and had the cutest iced sugar cookies as well. I loved my cupcake!

Next Stop, Gigi's Cupcakes. It was just a couple of minutes from our first stop. I ordered a Champagne cupcake, and it was really sweet. It had icing 3 inches high and was decorated with little pearls. These would be so cute at a wedding shower. I thought mine was good until I tasted Lacey's White Chocolate Macadamia Nut. Wow! It was the BEST!

Gigi's had the best selection, probably because it is a chain. The icing was scrumptious, and definitely the best part. I will be going back, but probably just to place an order. It wasn't a "sit down and hang out" kind of place.

This is blurry- camera got switched to Manual Focus, but proof that we were there!
Our third and final stop was at The Cupcakery on Market Street. Everyone was on sugar-over load except me. We raced here thinking that it closed at 7, but in actuality it stayed open until 9. I was the only one who ordered a cupcake. I love mint chocolate so naturally I ordered the Grasshopper. Everyone took a bite and we decided to not waste our calories. It was less than mediocre. The cake was dry and the icing tasted like it was straight out of a Betty Crocker can. So we quickly left to go eat some real food at Tommy Bahamas!

It was such a fun night, unfortunately probably one of my last nights out.... considering I am due in 3 weeks. We all loved the "Crawl" idea so some possible future girls nights might be to participate in a wine bar crawl, thrift shop crawl, and a progressive dinner.

Loads of Fun

Best Buds
My parents came over to help me "nest" and see Harper this week. My dad is Mr. Fix it. He is an accountant by degree and is always willing to help around the house.  He came over and washed all the pollen off of our patios, cleaned out the garage, and then proceeded to move a stack of bricks out of our garage so that we could get Cam's car in the garage....well maybe!

Harper likes LOVES to help, especially if it involves being outside. So he and Poppy got their wheelbarrows and moved the bricks. Harper would do everything Poppy did, it was pretty cute to watch. My dad cut his hand and Harper proceeded to get an boo boo as well.
Fun times getting ready for the trio!

Valentine's Day ...A little late

As I sit down to write this, Cam has taken Harper to the golf course to play nine holes. Today I have felt blah and have not had any creative mommy moments. This being on "bed rest" with a three year old is not fun. Everything he wants to do, I am incapable of physically doing. Cam has officially turned into "Fun Time Daddy." Harper has totally been bored with me over Spring Break. It makes me sad to say the least.

We went to a birthday party last night at Pump It Up, so at least that was fun.....right?  while Cam was putting Harper in the car Harper said, "I love you Daddy, you always take me to do fun things!" Very sweet moment for Daddy.

I came across these Valentine's Day pictures while they are golfing, so I thought I would blog something fun mommy did.

Valentine's Day was Harper's half birthday so we had a pretty fun day with everything red, pink, and extra sweet. For starters, we had Panera bagels with raspberry cream cheese and strawberries. Cam's favorite. We got dressed and headed to Pump it Up with Gentry and Jake, followed by swimming lessons with Miss Angela, and then a fun afternoon in the kitchen.

Harper made heart shaped pizzas, "love juice" aka Hawaiian punch, and chocolate covered strawberries for dinner.

  *Side note, my glucose tolerance test was the next day and I failed, I wonder why?

Necessities

I found this on a WMOM's blog (Stephanie Guinn)......... AND I am not prepared!!

In one day we go through...
* 24 bottles
* We use one can of formula (the $12 can) each day
* One gallon of nursery water to mix with the formula
* At least 24 diapers. Our schedule plans for a diaper change each feed, but of course if someone gets muddy before then we don't make them wait!
* Most days only 6 Outfits (3 daytimes & 3 sets of pj's)
* About 15-24 Burpies
* 2 scoops of Dreft detergent for laundry
* 3-6 blankets
* Lots of wipes
* 3 Towels & 5 Washclothes (One washcloth for each baby and then an extra for the boys so that Mom & Dad don't get sprayed during bathtime)!

Kind of crazy when you add it all up, especially when you multiple it times 7 to get a weeks worth. Thats.....

* 168 Bottles
* 7 Cans of formula
* 7 Gallons of Nursery Water
* At least 168 diapers
* A LOT of wipes!
* 21-42 Blankets
* 42 Outfits (minimum)
* 105-168 Burpies
* 21 Towels & 35 Washclothes
* Lots of Detergent!

And just for fun, here's what a month looks like...
* 720 Bottles
* 30 Cans of Formula
* 30 Gallons of Nursery Water
* At least 720 Diapers
* More wipes than we can count!
* 90-180 Blankets
* 180 Outfits (minimum)
* 450-720 Burpies
* 90 Towels & 150 Washclothes (Of course there are some days when we run out of time and have to skip baths but there are also plenty of days like last Thursday, when a baby is extra messy and requires 3 baths in one day!)
* Again, Lots of Detergent!

sick boy

I have a sick boy on my hands this weekend. What a way to start off Spring Break. I am pretty sure he has the flu, but praying we caught it early. On Friday night he started being really clingy and then within a hour he had a fever. We have been giving him homeopathic flu medicine from the pharmacy and lots of Tylenol and Motrin. He seems to be feeling a lot better today, but we are laying low for a couple more days.

I think I managed to stay in the recliner all day yesterday and most of today. Caillou, Toy Story, and a Bugs Life have been on repeat. I am needing some adult TV time!!

Boy, Oh Boy, Oh Boy it's my Baby Shower

Five of my sweetest friends hosted the most adorable baby shower for the triplets. I should preface this by saying my friends completely SPOIL me, no matter what the occasion; birthday, Christmas, you name it they always do something. Sometimes I feel like the world's worst friend, because I am never as thoughtful as each of them. So of course they offered to have a baby shower for the triplets. At first I was hesitant to go along with their plan. I really don't like to draw attention to myself, (which I am going to have to get over with triplets) but I just didn't want to inconvenience anyone or have people think I expected gifts in threes. So I agreed to a very intimate shower with close friends.
Angela, Me, Paige & Libby, Julie, Ashley & Molly Kate...just missing Angela & Lucy

Yesterday was a day that I will never forget. It was so special to see friends and family from throughout my life all be together. Old and new friends who are so dear to me, friends that prayed for me, cried with me, and special friends of my mom's who have prayed for me since I was in middle school. I loved the fellowship so much.

I was given SO many adorable baby gifts and of course everything came in three's and matched! Everyone was extremely generous and spoiled me rotten. I hope I can make everyone feel half as special as they made me feel yesterday.

The shower was originally going to be at Angela's house, but in the midst of planning her house sold! So I offered up my house since I am on bed rest aka "house arrest" and 30 weeks along. It was such a motivator to get my house in order before the babies arrive in 5 weeks!! We moved to our house four months ago and we are still getting settled. I have already re-arranged the living room since the shower to make it more comfy for when the boys arrive. It now has a cozy recliner! Anyway, after the shower was over everyone carried my lute upstairs to the nursery. It was so nice not to have to pack and unpack everything.... and way more efficient I might add!

So it was a perfect ending to a perfect day. Thanks to everyone who came and shared this day with me. I will always remember how much time was invested into making me feel so loved.

Here are just a few of the adorable things I received for the boys......
