Galveston

Last weekend, Huddy, Harper, and I went on a mini vacation to Galveston. Cam went turkey hunting with the guys in Lampasses, so the girls and kiddos headed to the beach. I wanted it to be somewhat relaxing, so I took two kiddos and ChaCha kept two. I know that seems strange to a lot of people, but for our family dynamics that is sometimes best. It is more work to divide the family because the boys share a room, among other things, but once we get to our destination it is easier. Packing can be a logistical nightmare, but we make due!

I was really looking forward to some fun in the sun and a little girl time. We stayed at Megan's condo in Palisade Palms. This was Megan's first time to take her six month old twin girls anywhere alone, and she did great! All of the kids (6 in all) did really well. I think everyone, including the kids, enjoyed a little change of pace.

We spent most of our time at the pool each day. We did venture out to the beach, but it a lot of work with the babies. There was not any shade, and we were paranoid that they were being exposed to too much sunlight. The big kids loved digging in the  sand seaweed. I am not surprised, because Harper will spend hours in his sandbox at home. I think he is going to love the sandy beaches in Florida this summer! And this trip totally gave me insight to what it is going to be like getting 4 little people ready for the beach everyday in June! I need to start bottling up my energy now!

This trip is one for the memory books because Harper learned to swim! I am so proud of him!! Just a few weeks ago he was crying at swim lesson, scared to get in the water and he turned into a little fish this weekend. A little positive peer pressure from Brooklyn helped. He held his breath under water for 12 seconds and was SO proud. He spent most of his time swimming in a foot and half of water, but who cares, he was going "undergound."

We wore the kids out each day, and they slept so good at night. Another reason why we need a pool in our backyard!
